Toolbox repair cafe
A repair cafe is a community event where volunteers repair items for people, while sharing skills. Tools are supplied by repairers and we have very limited supplies. If your repair needs parts, please bring them with you. Repairers can help with diagnosis and to determine which parts are required.
We’ll post the repairer list on the Friday before the event. Any last minute changes will be posted on Facebook.
No bookings required. Bring along your broken and not working items for our volunteer repairers. Please note our ‘House Rules’.

Pol.is – finding what the people want
What action do Canberrans want our five MPs (MHRs and Senators) to take in 2026?
Be part of deciding.
CAPaD is offering the chance to have a conversation with them about that. How do we, the people, make sure we are really heard, acknowledged, and not just listened to?
The first step, on December 14, is where we will introduce you to Pol.is. Pol.is is a tool that helps communities collect and prioritise ideas.
Part 2 is in March when we will bring Canberrans and our MPs together for the conversation.

This is a female-led, inclusive space designed to empower riders of all levels to get hands-on with their bikes. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned cyclist, this is your space to tinker, learn, and connect 🛠
Never changed a tyre before? Not sure how to adjust your brakes? Perfect. This is exactly the place for you! Our mechanics will guide on the side, so you can leave with a less-squeaky bike and little bit more know-how! Bring your own bike to work on or come along and lend a hand with others’ projects. No problem or question is too small, we’re all learning together!

Western Edge Guided Walk: Woodland Birds
This walk led by Kim Farley of Canberra Birds, will explore a little-known block of woodland at the far western end of Stromlo Forest Park. We should see and hear a good range of Canberra’s many woodland birds.
SoilEd Summer Arvo Picnic
Join in our late afternoon summer picnic at Watson Microforest, to celebrate the launch of SoilEd CBR – a one-stop-shop online resource all about building healthy soil and more sustainable lifestyles here in Canberra.
We’ll have soil-related DIY guides and factsheets to take home, a free carbon capture workshop run by Fiona Buining (Ainslie Urban Farm) and crafts for kids. Bring a picnic rug, snacks and refreshments. Some yummy treats will also be provided.
