Bats and Biodiversity

Join SEE-Change Gungahlin this Halloween weekend to find out why bats aren't spooky at all, and how they're actually an important part of the ecosystem!

Ingrid Singh from ACT Wildlife will talk us through the role bats play in the pollination process and local ecosystems. She'll also explain major impacts on bat populations and what we can do in our own backyards to look after visiting bats. We'll also learn about what bats we might find in Gungahlin and how to protect their habitats.

We'll then have a look at the Grey headed Flying Fox colony located in Commonwealth Park. These bats are a megabat and Australia's largest bat species. They are also listed as vulnerable.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased via Eventbrite. Ticket revenue will go back into the activites of the SEE-Change Gungahlin group.

This event is organised by SEE-Change, with a guest host from ACT Wildlife. To hear about more great events like this, follow SEE-Change on Facebook. To join the Gungahlin group, contact the conveners at gungahlin@see-change.org.au.
