Dip into the fascinating underwater world of the water bugs of Gungahlin Valley Ponds.
Join presenter Bruno Ferronato, WaterWatch Coordinator of the Ginninderra Catchment Group, LandCare ACT to discover who these tiny aquatic creatures are and the important role they play in the pond ecosystem.
Armed with nets and magnifying glasses, Bruno will guide us in an investigation of the seldom-explored lives of microscopic water bugs. Water bugs are an essential component in the diet of larger pond animals such as turtles, frogs and fish. These aquatic macro-invertebrates help keep our waterways clean and are important “bio-indicators” of water health. By identifying the number and types of water bugs, we can determine the health of our waterways.
Join Bruno and the Gungahlin SEE-Change team in a fun citizen science event for the whole family!
