CoCanberra / NENA Meetup

The next combined Coops Commons and Communities Canberra (CoCanberra) / New Economy Network Australia (NENA) Canberra Regional Hub meetup will be on Monday, the 6th of April, at 7pm.

Due to the coronavirus, for the time being we are holding our meetups via Zoom video conferencing, courtesy of NENA.

This month:

Going Local - the benefits, challenges and strategies.

Our speakers include:

  • Ben Murphy, who runs an electrical apprentice training outfit in Mitchell. A former Greens candidate, Ben has plans for a tradie owned solar farm developer. Ben will talk on the value of supporting local business, and may cover the worker owned solar developer idea.

  • Ruth Gaha-Morris, very active within Southern Harvest, and active in the national food sovereignty movement. Ruth will talk on local food systems.

  • Geoff Davies, geophysicist and author on complex systems and economics. Geoff will talk on local currencies.

Speakers will give short talks beginning at 7pm followed by QnA with the speakers and an open discussion of the topic.

Meetups formally finish by 9pm.
