Community Toolbox Canberra: The First 'Library of Things' for the ACT

You may have heard that Canberra is soon to get its first ‘Library of Things’. With the support of SEE-Change, this long-planned project is getting ready for launch.

The Community Toolbox Canberra is currently running a crowdfunding campaign with plans to open in September on the grounds of the Youth With A Mission in Watson.

The mission of the Toolbox is to make it possible for everyone to have the means to create, have fun, try a new hobby and make their home more liveable and, in doing so, reduce waste and pressure on the Earth’s resources.

Throughout Canberra, tools and equipment are sitting in cupboards and sheds underused or unused. Maybe you have some at your place. The Toolbox will facilitate making those items available to the wider community, maximising their intensity of use until they need to be broken down and recycled. It will be an important part of Canberra's sharing economy and provide members with annual access to a broad range of tools and equipment for what it would cost to buy one tool.

At this event, Kathy Ehmann, instigator of this initiative, along with committee member, Rebecca Tregurtha will share more about the Toolbox. Join us to learn all about the Community Toolbox Canberra - what it is, why it exists, how to join, how to volunteer, how to donate tools and equipment - and ask all your questions.

This event has been moved to Zoom due to the Canberra lockdown. The meeting link will be emailed to participants.
