Sustainable House Tour 3pm Session

  • Lyneham Canberra Australia (map)

Join SEE-Change on a tour of a new knockdown-rebuild house in Lyneham that has been occupied since November last year.

This house demonstrates that knockdown-rebuilds aren’t always big, bland boxes that take up their whole block, but can be stylish, compact, flexible and environmentally responsible. This house has been designed on passive solar principles with a northern orientation, concrete slab floor, highly insulated walls and roof, and double-glazed windows. It has an 8.1 star energy rating and is very comfortable to live in with minimal need for extra heating or cooling. The all-electric house also has a 13 kW PV system and battery which has virtually eliminated the need to draw electricity from the grid. Although the house is slightly larger than the one it replaced, it has less driveway and more space for a growing native garden.

Please do not attend if you are unwell or have been in contact with a person who has tested positive to Covid-19. Face masks are encouraged.

Please note you will be asked to remove your shoes on entry to the house.

Tickets are capped to 15 people. If you wish to attend and there are no places remaining please get in touch.  Please click on this link to secure a ticket.
