  • 3 Folvig Close, Strathnairn, on the edge of the Ginninderry Display Village Canberra Australia (map)

Come along to take a look inside this Energy Efficient Demonstration Home in the Ginninderry Display Village, Strathnairn!

The demonstration home will be open weekends from Saturday 4 June to Sunday 26 June. The home will be closed in July, it will have an official opening in August and will continue with weekend openings from August to the end of the year.

Tours take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Please attend one of these times.

Please keep an eye on this web page for any changes in these dates of when the home is open, in case we have to unexpectedly close for some reason.

This demonstration home explains and shows visitors firsthand what they should look for to easily achieve a more energy efficient and sustainable home, that is more comfortable to live in and cheaper to run. It includes a range of sustainability features, such as:

- Passive solar design to an 8 star rating under NatHERS

- Double and triple glazed thermally broken aluminium windows

- Sustainable materials, e.g. compressed timber cladding, Australian and recycled timbers

- Good draft sealing and insulation

- No downlights

- A grass driveway

- A green roof studio office

- And much more…

This project has been developed by Paul Nagle from Commonsense Sustainability Solutions and Jodie Pipkorn, a long time SEE-Change member, with education materials developed in collaboration with SEE-Change. The "Your New Home Buyer’s Guide", "Wrapping and sealing your building" video series and "How to construct a green roof" video series were developed to complement this home.
