Restoring Biodiversity and Resilience with ACT Urban Woodland Rescue

  • Fowles St Park Fowles St Weston, ACT, 2611 Australia (map)

Come and experience this pilot project which is restoring the health of an urban pocket park in Weston.

SEE Change members are invited to come and experience a pilot project which is restoring the health of an urban pocket park in Weston.

We are restoring an endangered woodland community called the yellow box/red gum woodland which once covered large areas of South Eastern Australia to this little park.

Learn simple and effective ways you can apply the science from this project to return our indigeneous biodiversity to your garden, nature strip, local park or laneway and restore resilience to the local environment we depend on to survive.

ACT Urban Woodland Rescue is a small land care group formed in response to the urgent need to protect and restore Canberra’s ecology in the face of climate change.

This project is funded by an ACT environment Grant.

Please note: We encourage you to walk, cycle or car pool to this event if possible. There is limited parking in the residential streets (Withers Place and Follingsby St) near the Park. Please be courteous to our neighbours.

The format of the talk will involve standing for the first ten minutes or so and then strolling around the site as various features are pointed out. You are welcome to bring along a small format folding chair. No seating is otherwise provided and the site is small yet on a slope.

As with all of our events this is a Covidsafe event. Please do not attend if you have any cold or flu symptoms whatsoever.

In the case of inclement weather the event will be cancelled and all ticket fees refunded.

All proceeds from tickets will be spent on increasing the Native plant diversity on site. We thank you for your support!
