Weekly shopping and COVID-19
Are you trying to avoid going food shopping as often as you used to? During COVID-19, minimising trips for food shopping reduces the risk of catching the virus. But this has other advantages from a WasteLess point of view. Once a week trip to buy food forces one to plan your meals for the week. Planning your meals means that you reduce food waste. You only buy what you need for the meals that you have identified you are preparing.
The other advantage is that it encourages learning how to use up the leftovers at the end of the week. Inevitably, one recipe requires only a few spring onions. Another requires half a capsicum – what do you do with the rest? What if you have ended up with some leftover cooked rice? You can put it all together into a great fried rice. You have ended up with a great meal, reduced food waste, saved money and helped the planet.
