The next Climate Strategy for the ACT

The ACT Government’s climate strategy is set to end in 2025. The development of a new strategy has been significantly delayed. Meanwhile, the Climate Risk Assessment Report released by the Australian Climate Service was released in September. It paints a sobering picture of life in Australia under a hotter climate, including increased risks from severe and frequent extreme weather events, heat waves and sea level rise. Communities, ecosystems and the places we love, across Australia, including here in the ACT, will be affected by these climate impacts.

But there is still time to act. With committed government action, backed by ambitious national and local targets, we can still reduce these risks and protect our future. Now is not the time for complacency. In the past, the ACT has been rightfully recognised as a world leader in climate ambition. The ACT government has the opportunity once again to lead with an ambitious, forward-looking strategy that serves all Canberrans, and serves as an example for the rest of the nation.

The ACT Conservation Council invites you to join us and other members of the Canberra community for a webinar on 11 November 2025. Together, we’ll explore potential priorities for the ACT’s next climate strategy and discuss what matters most for our region’s future. By coming together, we can help shape an ambitious strategy that reflects the values of our community.

The webinar will be held on Zoom - to join, follow the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84355059278
