Native Plant Propagation

With Blake Canackle

Workshop description

In this workshop, participants will learn about different native propagation techniques and how to build and maintain healthy soil for native plants. Participants will then get to put their learnings into practice and propagate their own native plants to take home!

Target audience(s)

Everyone! Anyone can learn how to grow plants, and the more that do, the better the world gets.

Workshop length

Two hours.

Workshop requirements

Outdoors is best due to soil and other chemicals used in the propagation. I provide all the seeds, soil, and equipment required. Smaller groups are ideal due to the physical side of the workshop. No more than fifteen would be ideal for an interactive workshop and time for personal questions. Non-raining days in Spring or Autumn are ideal for the growing conditions of the seeds.

Seats for the participants is an idea, or they can bring their own picnic rug.

Facilitator bio

I have been working in the conservation and horticulture industry for almost twenty years, from the Australian National Botanic Gardens to The Department of Food and Agriculture and Kings Park and Botanic Gardens in Western Australia, and then back to Canberra undertaking bush regeneration and teaching conservation. I believe that education is the way forward because we only know what we know at the time and it's time for us all to learn more.
