Future Film provides inspiration during isolation
Coronavirus has thrown many new challenges our way, the glaringly obvious one being - we’re stuck at home. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging new project to work on at home, Future Film might be for you!
SEE-Change is currently running it's first ever Future Film Festival - a film competition and festival giving young people a creative platform to talk about climate change. Although COVID-19 is occupying our minds at the moment, young people still face huge social, environmental and economic challenges as a result of climate change.
By making and submitting a 2 - 7 minute film, people 25 years and under can win awesome prizes like gardening equipment for your school, filmmaking gear, an eScooter or an eBike. High-scoring films will also be screened at the 2020 Canberra Short Film Festival in September.
The theme of Future Film is ‘Reimagining Canberra’s Future’, though any film themed around sustainability and climate change is eligible. We understand that filmmaking could be tricky with social distancing measures in place, but don’t despair! We aren’t looking for award-winning quality - we would just love to see your innovative, creative, and out-of-the-box solutions for a sustainable future.
To help with your film submission, we are currently running a free film mentoring program for Canberra’s young people. You’ll get up to 10 sessions with your mentor - who are all talented and passionate local filmmakers.
For inspiration, guidelines, prizes, mentoring, and how to submit, visit the Future Film webpage here.
