Introducing UpShop!

UpShop is a SEE Change group which opened up an op-shop for sewing, craft and textile supplies in May this year. Located at Diversity Hub in Kambah and open on Friday and Saturday mornings, volunteers take donations of unfinished projects, craft and haberdashery supplies, and prepare them for sale at discount prices. UpShop's mission is to recycle and repurpose textile items, giving them new homes instead of letting them end up in landfill. Since opening, UpShop has been super busy, recieveing heaps of community support, donations, and happy customers.

We chatted with the group convenor, Laurelle to find out more about the UpShop journey so far.

Q: What are some of your favourite stories from running the shop?
A: Highlights include people looking for supplies to make Christmas quilts, it is always exciting to see their creativity.  Finding items that have been personalised by others that are perfect for gifts is also very heartwarming.

Q: Have there been any surprises along the way?
A: The variety and high quality of items donated has been a very pleasant surprise; 98% of donations are saleable. The enthusiasm and support of shoppers has blown us away. Thanks SEE Change for helping with such a speedy realisation of my vision.
