What’s new: Electrify Canberra

Electrify Canberra's vision, inspired by Rewiring Australia, is to rapidly electrify all Canberra households by bringing communities together.

What are you most proud of achieving at Electrify Canberra? 

Electrify Canberra formed three years ago to advocate for a residential electrification pilot to be funded. In January this year, that funding got up! It has been fantastic to see an outcome for all our hard work. In the course of advocating a pilot, we have built an active and engaged community group who do lots of great stuff and this is a great source of pride for us all.

What is your best household electrification tip?

Electrification is awesome. You save money and reduce emissions. But you don’t need to do everything at once. Do your research, ask for advice from great people (such as the volunteers at Electrify Canberra, for example) and decide in advance what you will replace your existing gas appliances with when they break. We’ll even throw in a second tip for free. If you think it will be tricky to replace your gas cooktop, why not get a portable induction cooktop. They are cheap and a good opportunity to test out the tech.

What's in store for the next 6 months?
