Understanding your garden soil
Canberra City Farm event
In this workshop we will consider the characteristics of a fertile garden soil and how you can transform your soil to produce nutritious fruit and vegetables. You will be introduced to methods to assess:
• the soil texture and structure of your soil and how it affects plant growth,
• the chemical properties of your soil and how that affects the availability of plant nutrients,
• the microbiological properties of your soil which enhance the ability of plants to extract nutrients from the soil.
Methods to modify these soil characteristics will be discussed.
This workshop is suitable for beginner gardeners as well as those with some gardening experience. All participants are asked to bring a sample of soil from their own garden for assessment. A sample volume of the size of a large coffee mug should be sufficient.
As this is an outdoor practical workshop, participants should bring gardening gloves and wear sturdy, closed shoes and appropriate gardening clothes for the weather conditions.

Regenerative study group
Canberra City Farm event
Now in its second year, this group meets on the first Sunday of the month to explore the nature of regenerative cultures and their relationship to regenerative agriculture. We will share all things regenerative, from big ideas to voices of hope to plates of food and personal friendships. Strap yourselves in for a collaborative and group-directed journey into the metacrisis, a change of paradigms, a decolonisation of the mind and how to create the conditions for life to thrive. Our inquiries go wherever our participants take us as we explore the ideas and practices of regenerative agriculture. A bit like a book group, but videos, podcasts and other media also included. A wonderful forum for those who like to explore the big questions, regenerate their own thinking and listen to and learn from each other and the planet.
The duration of each session will be between two and three hours and will include a shared lunch or afternoon tea. New participants are welcome. Contact info@ccfarm.org.au for more information.
